Recently I was addressing students from a college. At the end of the session, I was asked to give the audience one crucial piece of advice. I said – “ You must believe in the word – Recover.”
Let us see how different people would look at the meaning of this word. I am illustrating a few stories here:
Story 1
Laddu was sick for a long time. In the previous few months, he was hospitalized twice. Once, he had the opportunity to defeat the life support equipment placed in the Intensive Care Unit. For him, recovery meant nothing but getting back into good health.
It is now six months that Laddu is back into the mainstream. He lives an everyday healthy life like everyone else. Strong willpower is a must for recovery of health. I have seen people detected with cancer get back to normal life. Definitely, it takes a struggle and an effort to do so, but those who are determined to turn the table become successful.
Story 2
This is the story of a man who got neck-deep into debt. It is about late VG Siddhartha, owner of Cafe Coffee Day. In August 2019, he was found dead, and it is said that he committed suicide. One would assume that the story ends there.
Not for Malavika Hegde, the new protagonist. She is the wife of the late CCD founder. In December 2020, she got appointed as the company’s Chief Executive Officer. She joined the company when it was under Rs 7,000 crore debt. By March 2021, she managed to reduce it to Rs 1,731 crore!!
She recovered the company’s lost ground when the entire world economy was reeling under the COVID crisis and successive lockdowns!
Story 3
A peep into your neighborhood will reveal many stories where people recovered their Love & Relationships.
Laddu and his elder brother inherited an enormous manufacturing business empire from their father. Both of them had ideological differences in various commercial aspects. As time passed by, Laddu realized that he did not like the work of a businessman. He wanted to get into farming. The elder brother sensed Laddu’s will and found an opportunity to get rid of Laddu from that business. Clearly, greed had takeover love. Cutting a long story short, Laddu was removed from the companies board.
Years passed, and Laddu’s elder brother went through challenging family situations. He realized that Laddu could have been a great support for him during that phase. He approached Laddu with an open heart and an unconditional apology for his mistake.
Love won, and the lost relationship got recovered!
Story 4
If you are a Cricket lover, you cannot forget Kolkata 2001 – the first big series match that helped the Indian team recover from its struggle phase and restore the faith of a million followers.
The Australian team was cruising on a 16-match winning streak and had won the first Test. In the second test match, in Kolkatta, they scored 445 runs and subsequently bowled India ‘all out’ for just 171! ‘Follow on’ was inevitable. India did bat again but with full faith and more courage this time. With 281 runs coming from the bat of VVS Laxman and 180 out of Rahul Dravid, India scored 376, thus setting a target of 384 runs in 75 overs for Australia. As the match did unfold further, Harbhajan Singh grabbed six wickets and made India win the game.
Wasn’t this a fantabulous recovery! From a spot where it seemed easy to slide into the valley of defeat, the team took charge to turn over the situation!
Story 5
I watched a TV sop a few days back, ‘Shark Tank.’ The story of one specific entrepreneur inspired me a lot. He was the one who failed about five times in five different ventures. Every time he failed, he learned a recovery lesson. He recovered with gains from every failure.
Almost all start-ups, even those Shark entrepreneurs, have experienced many failures and setbacks in their journey. Only those who survived to create history are the ones who were willing to recover. The only resource available in abundance is ‘courage’ as a start-up! The ability to stay calm and courageous amidst tough times builds the bridge connecting ‘difficulties’ and ‘success’!
Friends, if you are sad or struggling mentally on any aspect of life, just chant the word – RECOVER. Work on your weaknesses. Consolidate your strengths. Go for it. Recover Now.
You can recover your confidence and willpower
You can recover your finances
You can recover your lost ground in a battel
You can recover your peace and joy
You can recover business losses and much more…
Believe me, except for time, you can recover almost anything you may have lost. Yes, you can recover all that you may want to.
